Elon Musk Says That He Has Hired The Vice President Of Witchcraft And Propaganda

Elon Musk is back to his usual pranks on Twitter, this time announcing the appointment of a new executive post at the social media company: vice president of witchcraft and propaganda. Musk said that he was hiring for the position in a mocking (though with the billionaire, you never really know) Tweet that has received over 37 million views.

He did, however, make mention of the point of view in response to Icelandic entrepreneur and philanthropist Haraldur Orleifsson, who went on an argument about how the “US continues to exist in a post-truth, post-reason, post-ethics world.” The owner of Twitter chose not to elaborate further on his initial Tweet. “That’s why I’m looking for a VP of Publicity (and Witchcraft),” Musk playfully remarked.

Musk seems to be making reference to Megan Fox, who recently made light of practicing witchcraft outside of conservative commentator Robby Starbucks home, according to a Fox News article. Fox’s young sons were shown with long haircuts and wearing feminine apparel, and Starbucks criticized the photos, calling it child abuse.

It was a playful exchange between the two after their very public disagreement on the social network in March when Orleifsson (a disabled person) claimed Musk fired him without giving him the required notice or disability reimbursement. Musk ultimately issued a public apology to Orleifsson for the “misunderstanding of his situation” after widespread disapproval of their exchange went viral. As the deadline for Twitter’s contract renewal with the service approaches this month, reports this week have surfaced that the social media giant is discontinuing paying its Google Cloud costs. As Twitter employs Google Cloud among other safety procedures to limit hazardous content that is exposed on the network, this can have a negative impact on the trust and safety teams.
